Operation Christmas Child

 

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry not only to give children a speacial gift, but to give them the best gift, The Word of God. Each child receives this in their box in their own native language. Last year between the Carolina's, North and South,over 780,000 boxes were collected. This means not just 780,00 children received the Word of God, but we must multiply that by 3,5 or 10. Each child is going to share God's Word to family members, neighbors, and possibly friends introducing them to God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ.

We are so excited to help this mission to let these young children and adults know that God loves them, that God is the answer, that we as Christians love them and want to give them the opportunity of hearing how God can save them.

We bring items through out the year. Below is what is acceptable for the boxes:

Doll(Consider including accessories such as doll clothes or a small doll bed)

Soccer ball (Make sure to include a manual air pump so that the ball can be re-inflated)

Stuffed animal, an outfit of clothing to wear

Small muscial instrument (such as a harmonica or woodwind recorder)

Backpack

Boys:

Toy truck or boat

Personal Care Items Girls & Boys:


Comb, Hairbrush, Toothbrush, Washcloth, Bar soap(packaged and/or in a container, Adhesvie bandages (Colorful ones can help a child be more willing to wear bandage is colorful. Do not include liquid antibiotic ointment.) Reusable plastic containers: cup, water bottle, plate, bowl, blunt-edged untensils, blanket. Non-liquid lip balm, flashlight(solar-powered or hand-crank; if battery operated, be sure to include extra batteries of the type needed). Compact mirror(girls), nail clipper and file, stick deodorant, washable/reusable cloth menstrual pads.

School Supplies:


Pencils, small manual pencil sharpener, colored pencils, pencil case, pens, crayons, markers, notebooks, blank index cards, solar-powered calculator, scissors, ruler, protractor, glue stick(do not include liquid glue) small adhesive tape.

Clothing & Accessories:


Shirts, pants, pillowcases,dress (loose-fitting sundress-girls), underwear, shoes, socks, flip-flops, hat, scrarf,mittens, sunglasses, tote bag/purse, hair bows-girls, friendship bracelets(woven with yarn or embroidery thread-girls) decorative hat, wrist watch, bead jewlery/bead kit-girls, hair accessories(hair clips, hair ribbons, elastic hair bands, etc. girls).

Crafts & Activities:


Coloring books, picture book, notebooks, glue stick(do not include liquid glue) small adhesive tape, watercolor set, finger paint palette, crayons, markers (non-liquid containers) paint brushes, canvas or paper, playdough (consider adding plastic cookie cutters as non-sharp utensils the child can use with the playdough, stickers, skipping rope/jumping rope, chalkboard, chalk binoculars, puzzles, compass, sewing kit, fabric (1-2 yards), ribbon, gardening kit with gloves and trowel tool(Do not include gardening seeds) playing cards, tools.

Toys:


Foam ball, kickball (make sure to include a manual air pump so that the ball can be re-inflated), finger puppets, slinky, etch a sketch, interactive toys that include push buttons, lights, noise (include extra batteries), costume items to play dress-up, such as crowns and costume jewelry, plastic toys and toy figures (nothing war related) yo-yo, small frisbee, small kite, kaleidoscope, marbles, playing cards, skipping rope/jumping rope, tennis ball, baseball and mitt, and hacky sack.

Personal Note:  You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself, your family, or group. If you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back.
